Travel agent requires lot of knowledge and logistic skills of the industry. In today’s world, everyone is so very busy in their lives that they don’t have time to deal with airlines changing schedule, fares, and to find the cheaper packages etc. so they prefer hiring travel agent to make all preparations on their behalf. Travel agent are expected to advise traveler about weather conditions, attractions, exhibitions, customs and local audiences about destinations.

Travel agents do all the preparations, look at all the possibilities, prepare all documents, and agenda on behalf of traveler. In case of international traveling they also provide information on required documents such as passport, certificate of vaccination, visa etc. and currency rates, custom regulations.

Travel agents mostly work in casual fun offices. They spent lot of time in advertising and promoting. Travel agents advertise their business through internet, telephone and postal services. They spend most of their time in office at their desk consulting clients, managing paperwork, contacting airlines, reservations at hotels, and working on computer. At the time of holidays and vacations workload of travel agents increases. During these peak hours, some of the travel agent who are self employed work for more then 40 hours continuously although internet now allows agents to work from home.
